After interviewing High school students we learned that they are having trouble retaining the information they just learned in class. Which is a problem after 8-9 weeks of an online class without remembering important information. To avoid this problem we want to provide a tool that will make the online learning experience successful. The solution is based on the 7 fundamental conditions of learning based on Bloom’s Taxonomy and it will focus on interest, motivation, support, and reinforcement.
The solution is BrainBrag, an app that encourages engagement, social connection, and enhances the retainment of information. This will happen through the two games called Curiosity Lab and Master Quest. Curiosity Lab is a pre-class activity that motivates and creates interest as it incentives students to log in early encouraging student engagement. It also creates a sense of community as they try to guess the class topic for the day and chat with others connected about the facts the tool is showing. Then after the class is taught the post-class activity is Master Quest, a game where groups of students try to score the most points by answering questions from the class lesson. Helping them to have a better retainment of the information that was provided in class. Students cannot advance until they complete the previous lesson and they can review the lesson multiple times.
BrainBrag is mutually beneficial between students and teachers because they create personalized learning as the teachers can see how well a student is understanding the lesson, enhancing learning and promoting communication.
